What if they let the skinniest people get into university instead of the current way?

Asked by flo (13313points) January 9th, 2012

Is this some kind of free publicity thing? You have the right BMI? You are in. If we don’t seem to learn how to drive can’t pass driving test, no problem we just get a fit body, and we pass? Is that the idea? What am I missing here?

Dukan’s idea is horrible. He is saying BMI should be part of the grade the student earns their final year. In the article he says, “There is nothing unhealthy about educating youngsters about nutrition.” That part I agree with. He also says, “My idea would change nothing for those who have no need to get thinner. But for those who dop, it would only motivate them to lose weight.” That’s the part that I have a problem with. These students would be motivated for the wrong reasons, which is what leads to trouble. Once you start making their grade based on their BMI, you are setting people up for eating disorders and health issues.

There are many other things they can try to do to encourage healthy eating and lifestyle choices, making it part of the grading system is horrible.

The freshman 15 could result in expulsion.

If he writes diet books he could give free books, or something, but he has no business interferring (I don’t even think anyone would consider the crazy idea) with school marks. Is he trying to get the heavier students would with better academic qualification would be dropped in favor of the fit student who have no business passing? I am thinking this is just to get the name Duncan Diet on the news.

dailymail is shitrag. Take it with a huge grain of salt.

@flo His diet is already a hit with many celebrities and people in France and he has sold millions of copies of his books (here’s another story about his proposal). I doubt it’s a publicity stunt. He may be genuinely concerned about the obesity rates, but this is the wrong way to go about it. It sounds like no one is going to take his proposal into consideration at this point.

@johnpowell I just clicked on the first result, I don’t know dailymail. Is it a fake story then? I don’t know what to wish.

@SeaofcloudsIt sounds like no one is going to take his proposal into consideration at this point.” I should hope so, it is crazy cookoo enough.

The irony would be, a heart patient should look for a chubby cardiologist because there is less liklihood he got into med school with artificially inflated grades.

That’d be great, I’d be doing exactly what I’m already doing now, but without the debt!
