What does "perspective" mean to you?

Asked by smilingheart1 (6439points) January 17th, 2012

Perspectives is an intriguing hinge word to me. It represents outlook, ways of seeing, the difference between agreement or quarrel in some cases and our perspectives color and shape life around us and within us. Will you write about this pivotal word and how awareness of its influence has affected your life and its choices.

The definition of perspective depends on your perspective lol. Perspective means many things, including a view or state of existence in an individual’s eye. So I guess perspective depends on the brain, of course. We all have different brains, so our perspectives are all just a bit different, no matter how similar we are.

A mental view or outlook. It is useful occasionally to look at the past to gain a perspective on the present. A way of regarding situations, facts, etc., and judging their relative importance.

“Perspective” is a lens through which we view/filter our input. I will say that my rose-colored lenses have allowed me to enjoy many things. The love-colored lens blinded me a couple of times. And the insecurity lens is in constant need of replacement. Change your lenses, change your life.

Perspective is the same as viewpoint. In life, it is constantly changing as you live through experiences and each person’s perspective is unique because we have different life experiences. I find it fascinating to learn about how people view different issues. Looking back, I recall a very shortsighted youth which has changed to a keen awareness of the people of my world and a view of people all over the world.

Perspective is being able to recognize and look beyond your own particular brand of bullshit.
