How can I be an online DJ?

Asked by unused_bagels (1749points) January 19th, 2012

I’m a DJ at a volunteer college radio station. I was wondering if there was any way to DJ online, play my own music, and have it, iunno, available for streaming or podcasting, or something?

You’d need to sign up on a web-based live video broadcasting platform such as Ubroadcast or Livestream.

Sign up, get a slot, DJ to the world. Designed mainly for those who mix, which I’m assuming you’re looking for. Otherwise, you can setup your own shoutcast server. Depending on your budget, you can also look into Adobe Streaming Media Server, I’ve used for years to broadcast video + live stream outta my mixer. You can download Adobe Media Encoder for free and push to a stream through http://influxis.com/ if you have an account. Requires more technical know-how, but that’s the exact same software/service setup big brands like Johnny Walker, etc use to stream live events. Worth a look.

@digitaljesus ah man, that website isn’t available in my country, stupid licensing restrictions! I wanna play stamps feet, throws self on floor and has a full on toddler tantrum

These sites seem to be original-content oriented. I just want to expose artists I like to the masses and play music for the entertainment of listeners, plus talk to hear my own head rattle, and perhaps interview people from time to time. @digitalimpression I tried the link, but this crummy old box won’t let me do it (I’m at work atm). I’ll check it out tomorrow at home.
