My little dog whom is half chihuahua and miniature pincher is eleven years old and has a swollen area near her ovaries any suggestions from those that have experience or knowledge of veterinary care?

Asked by SmoothEmeraldOasis (808points) January 27th, 2012

She has been always like a sausage like body and is often mistaken for being overweight but essentially she is not, She still has her menstrual cycle and moves around just fine. But at the onset of getting up from laying around she has a slight difficulty getting going.

A swollen area near her ovaries? Internally? Or are you talking about her groin area?

If she has a “sausage like body”, why do you think she’s not overweight? And is there a reason she’s intact? Older bitches run the risk of pyometra, breast cancer, and other illnesses related to being intact.

Older dogs are very prone to fatty tumors known a lipomas that create a soft, lumpy area under the skin. Other possibilities, depending on location, would be other types of tumors, enlarged lymph nodes or even hernias.

Your best option is to take her in to her veterinarian for a check.

I would not be second guessing what could be wrong , I believe you should take her to a in person veterinary clinic.

I want to both THANK you and let you know that I have been absent for a long time cause I have been in mourning for the loss of my little friend. Someone took her from my porch around six o’clock.
