What period is this dress styled after?

So I found this gorgeous evening gown (http://i40.tinypic.com/kbdo93.png) and it looks like a vintage/retro style to me, but I don’t know what period of time it resembles. . . Can you think of what it might be? Or maybe I’m just imaging it. . .
