How are you celebrating Valentine's Day?

Asked by SpatzieLover (24606points) February 13th, 2012

Happy Valentine’s Dear Jellies!
Will you be enjoying a special dinner? Are you having a festive day at school today?

What will you do to mark the occasion?

I’ve tried to wish as many of you a Happy <3 Day in PMs as I could…If you didn’t get my message then let this be my chance to wish you many XoXoXo’s now!

I am going to school… My boyfriend and I are exchanging gifts. And I’m going home.
The end. :)

I have just sent a forwarded message to one of my friends. I don’t have close friends. For me, I think it’s celebrated.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you as well!

I showed my husband a picture of a rose that looks like a poke ball and told him, “Happy Valentine’s Day.” He gave me a kiss. That’s about it. We don’t buy each other gifts because if we want something and can afford it, we get it. If we’re going to celebrate something, we usually just go out to eat, but there is no point in going out to eat on Valentine’s because everyone else is doing the same thing.

Oh yeah, I told him he’s getting me a new Valentine’s Day mug on the 15th. Almost anything Valentine’s related is eye candy for me, but I don’t want anything because most of it is decorations and it just ends up sitting around. Cups get used, so I get to oogle them year round, and I don’t have to worry about anyone else using my cups. Last year I told him to pick out a mug (that is as big as a bowl) and get it for me once they’re on sale. I use it for ice cream or cereal. I want one this year for for tea.

I bought my daughters a rose each and my son and daughters some chocolate.

Then my husband and I went out for fish and chips and sat by the sea to eat it. Then we came home!

I’m at home alone with a sick kid, stormy weather outside and empty cupboard and no way to get to the grocery store. FML.

My romantic highlight of the day was your PM.

downtide's avatar

I gave my partner a card and he looked at me blankly and said “What’s this for?”

Bellatrix's avatar

I agree @zensky, @SpatzieLover‘s pm was a highlight for me too. It was a lovely thought.

Oh, my sweet sweet boy remembered and he had made me a card from some pretty gold paper he had. I just wish he wasn’t home sick and that I wasn’t stuck inside with no milk or dinner…. weak moment, feeling sorry for myself, again.

wilma's avatar

I was greeted by your lovely PM this morning, thank you .
My husband wished me Happy Valentine’s Day with kiss before he left for work.
I had left a big bag of the Valentine color Peanut M&Ms on his desk to find this morning.
That may be it for us. He might bring me home something today, maybe my favorite candy bar or something like that.
I also got my boys the M&Ms.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Thanks for the PM.
I will be going down to the city where my wife is located temporarily for work and take her out for dinner ( four hour round trip ).

Bluefreedom's avatar

I’ll be working until 1800 hours. After that, I’ll probably be too tired for Valentine’s festivities but there’s always next year.

I usually don’t celebrate Valentines day because its too close to my Anniversary but I’m planning a nice dinner at home and a chocolate cake in the shape of a heart. (Although that is probably more for me.)

JLeslie's avatar

Not planning anything. I’ll come back to this Q tonight if my husband surprises me with something. I doubt it though.

sliceswiththings's avatar

Exploiting it, baby! I’ll be working (accordion-playing street musician) during the prime dinner hours, and hopefully I’ll make millions of dollars. Quickly trying to memorize “Let’s Stay Together” for the occasion.

ucme's avatar

Privately, just how we like it.

Watching the weather forecast. Looks like it’ll be above freezing, so when she gets in the car after work there will be a dozen roses waiting for her. Stay warm damnit.
Thanks for the V-day wish!

I’m celebrating Forever Alone day.

captainsmooth's avatar

I believe that Valentine’s is just a ploy by the gift, greeting card, chocolate and floral industry to bump up sales. You should share your love everyday.

That being said, my kids and I are meeting my gf and her two kids for dinner. Cute little chocolate heart boxes for all, and the Adele CD for my sweetie (kind of ironic giving her a CD about heartbreak on V-Day but she will like it anyway).

mrentropy's avatar

I figure I’ll work all day. Then I’ll go home and feed the cat and then the birds. Then I’ll make myself a sandwich and, maybe, some potato chips. Then I’ll see what’s in my Hulu queue. After that, I reckon I’ll go to bed.

Hain_roo's avatar

Thanks for the Valentine PM :)

It’s also my X wedding anniversary (brilliant idea) so I’ll believe I’ll celebrate by smuggling dinner and a glass of wine into a movie. WOOHOO!!!

marinelife's avatar

Every day is Valentine’s Day for us. We will exchange cards and have some chocolate.

xnightflowerx's avatar

Don’t need a day to tell people I love that I love and appreciate them! Or even get them nice gifts or dinner, I do that all the time.

But I’m not in a relationship, and I’m quite content that way right now. So this is really just any other day for me. I may steal my nieces and nephews V-day candy they bring home from school though. Force them to show their love for me with chocolate. (;

Its also a great day to avoid the internet V-day Joy & Sorrow Fest and focus all my energy on work because I’ve got two days left to finish as much product as possible before I head out to the DC area to make some money at a big anime convention this weekend. So I will be sewing, pinning, cutting, trimming, packing, rocking out, all day! Wish me luck! (:

OpryLeigh's avatar

I’m not. My boyfriend and I wished each other a happy valentines day this morning but other than that we won’t do anything in particular. I know he loves me so I’m not bitter about the lack of celebrations like some of my friends whose partners aren’t bothered by the whole valentines hype seem to be.

Milo here; With some none-too-subtle nudging from me, Gail is about to empty and thoroughly clean my litter box with Dr. Bronner’s lavender organic soap. Then I will get a small piece of organic wild salmon. Then a long nap to prepare for lunch and post-lunch nap.

muppetish's avatar

We were going to exchange letters today before my shift starts at work, but he is unfortunately sick. Our main plan was to celebrate on Saturday, anyway. We’ll be watching The Secret World of Arietty and The Artist back-to-back at the theater.

TexasDude's avatar

I’m going to lunch, then to painting class, then to dinner, then to do homework, then to Crossfit, then to more homework, and then bed.

deni's avatar

Working all day. My ex sent me this big long text from overseas which kind of ruined my morning. I’m listening to Rick James trying not to think about my floundering love life/life in general. Stupid holiday. Yes I’m bitter.

linguaphile's avatar

Happy Valentine’s Day- I lurve you all!

I’m at work, have a meeting, then will head home and finish an application due tomorrow. I’m SO tired from last weekend that I just want to curl up in front of the TV with a movie and popcorn. I’ll probably do that with my kids while working on my application on my laptop!

Happy Valentines Day everyone!!! I spent my day at school, now I’m tumblring, blogging, doing homework and watching beauty videos. My life is complete.

laineybug's avatar

I went to school, gave the guy I’m dating a valentine’s card that I made for him, and he gave me a present. This is my first year having a valentine that isn’t my mom, so I was pretty happy. Happy Valentines Day to everyone!

Sunny2's avatar

First thing this morning a jelly pm set me up for the day. Very much appreciated. No loved ones near, but I’m know I’m loved and that’s all that matters.

Spent the day flying back home from Las Vegas. Finally dragged in about 5P.M. tired and sleepy (jet-legged). But I did manage to have some quiet time with hubby (he didn’t go to Vegas). We had a light dinner and finished off with a glass of wine and bowl of strawberries and cream. Ummm! Can’t wait to go to bed.
Happy Valentine Day!

Happy dead things and red stuff day to everyone! My partner and I went out to dinner in our favorite place, he bought me a rose that I gave to my youngest son who was all over that, btw and I think we will give him flowers all the time now. The most amazing thing was that my sons made each other valentine’s day cards and they were so happy.

Neizvestnaya's avatar

Both my husband and I work til late today but we will have a late night dinner with champagne, steaks, cards, gifts and this morning I saw he had snuck a couple dozen roses into the kitchen for me to see when I woke up. We’ll stay up late :)

I take it all back. He cooked me a surprise candlelit dinner with lots of wine and bought me a single beautiful flower. I am a lucky girl.
