Has anyone owned or used a "Smart Multi-Tool?"?

Asked by rooeytoo (26981points) February 29th, 2012

It looks like a really handy thing to have but I don’t need another power tool unless it is really going to be useful. What are your thoughts? If you have one, how is it? If you don’t, do you think you need one?

Funny @rooeytoo I just said to my husband last night that I need a Dremel The one I want has interchangable saw heads. I can’t find one online right now to show you

Yes, I would find this useful. Right now, I find myself pulling out my jigsaw or my sawzall for projects that don’t need anything that big. A small roto saw can be used to open packaging, tear down boxes, and quickly finish projects.

Our local hardware store has a couple out on display to look over. I find it useful to hold a tool like this before buying, so I have an idea of the weight, and can test out the switches.

@SpatzieLover – oh thank you, thank you for answering my lonely question, heheheh!

Seriously, this tool really intrigues me. But a group I am in sort of dampened my enthusiasm by saying they didn’t believe it could do what is claimed and a jig saw would do the trick just as well, etc. etc. etc.

I still think it looks good though I haven’t rushed out to buy one. I am still thinking about it. Keep me posted on what you decide.

By the way, I have a dremel but for anything bigger than a toothpick, I use my Foredom Flexi shaft. It does the job so well and is a great piece of equipment. I kept blowing the motors on Dremels and Wecheers. Now I rough with an angle grinder with a wood eating disc then on to the Foredom.
