How would I go about getting a job in security?

Hi everyone, I’m interested in getting a job in security to help pay for college and I was wondering is there any certification I need before applying for a job? Thanks!

Welcome to Fluther.

As a “casual” temporary employee there probably won’t be many certifications, if any, that you need to acquire. Usually any skills, licensing, bonding or qualifications needed will be spelled out in the help wanted add, employment solicitation or other posting advertising the job.

It is a minimum wage job. They will hire just about anyone. If you show any initiative you can excel. Just apply.

Some places require you to get a guard card.

Keep your pee clean, and consider getting some gun training.

Armed security guards make more money than those that are not. You must have a clean police record and qualify to carry a handgun. You also must be qualified to be bonded.

For more information, contact the particular guard service you are interested in working. They have all this info for you.
