Where does Glen Ord rank amongst the other Scotch?

I tried Glen Ord for the time today. It was 12 year old single malt. I thought it was pretty tasty. I’m wondering how the general Scotch drinking public think of this.

Most people who’ve tried Glen Ord will agree it is a pretty fantastic whisky and very easy to drink. However it is actually quite hard to find as single malt outside of the distillery shop as over 90% goes into making blends (such as Johnnie Walker Gold mentioned in @marinelife‘s article).

I guess I am deprived. After sampling The Glenlivet I never was motivated to explore beyond. @Lightlyseared must be right, because I do not recall ever seeing it in the stores here.
