I am unfamiliar with any. Of course, I have a cat…now let’s talk cat food…

Are you saying once you run out of people food, you have to eat dog food? So you’re hoping to find out which dog food tastes the best??

Aster's avatar

Kidding? We often do not have any food leftover to give the dogs so I wanted to know if anyone feeds any dogwood their dogs love. Maybe such a thing doesn’t exist.

I never, ever feed my dogs people food. It’s not good for them. I have used IAMs, Purina One, and various other dry foods. My dogs have liked all of them.

@Aster Forget ”..dry..”, go for raw .

Aster's avatar

@lloydbird I DO care! I will read all of this and thank you!

lloydbird's avatar

@Aster Sorry. I don’t doubt that you care.
I have modified my answer accordingly.

Rachael Ray, acoording to my Great Pyrenese is top dog.

I beleive the first ingredient is chicken.

I have seen homeless people eat dog food right out of the can.

Blue Buffalo or a brand of the same quality is all I feed any of my carnivore/omnivore animals.

The neighbor dogs come around for the Innova.

@lloydbird My cat would agree with the “raw” comment…should I be locking my bedroom door??!?

@annewilliams5
No you should not.
Your cat loves you as an equal member of the family.

@lloydbird I was scared for just a second…whew! I feel better. Thank you.
@Aster As for the food dilemma? I use some pretty high end food, for my cat…yeah, I still don’t have an answer. Sorry.

Based on how the question was worded, am I the only one that thought for a split second that the OP was talking about running out of food for herself? I’m not trying to be funny..

chyna's avatar

@FutureMemory No, another jelly pm’d me that he was worried for @Aster not having enough to eat.

FutureMemory's avatar

@chyna For reals? Hah :D

chyna's avatar

@FutureMemory Yes, for reals.

I don’t know about dry dog food – even the quality stuff (my dog has James Wellbeloved) is full of stuff like ground up bones and ash. However, I also feed her this: Natures Diet which is made to human food standards from nothing but meat, rice and vegetables. I have actually tasted it (out of curiosity, not because I ran out of human food), and it tastes a lot like those potted-meat sandwich spreads, although it’s rather bland as it’s not seasoned to human tastes.

O.o – I thought she was talking about running out of people food for herself too.

The q said, “any your DOGS love?” Oh, dear. It’s just about dogs; not me. I’ve never needed nor tasted pet food!

SpatzieLover's avatar

@Aster When I first read this Q I thought the same as the others did…Because of this line I often don’t have any people food left !

;) Then I read the details ;)

I agree with @downtide. The only foods I buy for my pets are human grade, produced from ingredients from the USA and manufactured in the USA.

As far as I know, ALL of the good pet foods have trial size bags you can buy at the pet store to take home and allow your dog to try first. That way you don’t need to invest in something your dog won’t eat.
