[NSFW -- Possibly] Who wants to play familiar songs with lyrical wrongs?

Asked by ETpro (34605points) April 1st, 2012

It’s April Fool’s Day, so let’s fool with familiar songs. The game is simple. Revise the rhyme to any familiar song. Create something that makes fool’s play of what the real lyrics say. I made it NSFW just in case somebody wants to make their song revision a bit risque. Happy April Fool’s Day, all you Jellies.

@ETpro Can you maybe give an example (for this simple soul)?

There is a whole book about that.
The title tells the tale- Scuse Me While I Kiss this Guy (Purple Haze)
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/scuse-me-while-i-kiss-this-guy-gavin-edwards/1000384619

But one I always sort of liked was the Dixie Chicks – Wide Open Spaces
The lyric is
“She needs wide open spaces
Room to make her big mistakes
She needs new faces
She knows the high stakes”

I told my sons the line was “She goes to ‘Hio State” (Ohio State)

Best misinterpreted lyrics ever.

From Creedance Clearwater Revival:

There’s a bathroom on the right.”

Do you ever feel… Like a plastic bag… Drifting through the wind… Getting stuck in trees?
Did I do it right?

Dang, I wish I had time to write out a reply. I thought I would be able to jump in here early. Instead, a “minor” programming job I had to do today blew up in my face. It’s still not entirely tamed, but at least at this point I am closing in on taming it. Manyana. Sorry.

@janbb is that “there’s a bad moon on the rise”? Because I used to think it said “There’s a bathroom on the right.”.... XD

OK, You’ve made me stay up and right a wrong song. This is to the tune (or toon) of All I Have To Do Is Dream

The real lyrics are here, but these are much better:

    Sche-me-me-me-mee, scheme, scheme, scheme
    Sche-me-me-me-mee, scheme, scheme, scheme
Whenever I want you right by my side
I re-a-lize, my butts to wide
Whenever I see that you could never fit, I
    Sche-me-me-me-mee, scheme, scheme, scheme

When I feel cold in the night
And I need you to hold me tight
When ever I want you right up by my side
    Sche-me-me-me-mee

I can make you mine, taste your lips of wine
    Anytime night or day
    Only trouble is, gee whiz
    I’m schemein’ my life away

I need you so that I could try
To lose some weight, and that is why
Whenever I want you, all I have to do is
    Sche-me-me-me-mee, scheme, scheme, scheme
    Sche-me-me-me-mee

I can make you mine, taste your lips of wine
    Anytime night or day
    Only trouble is, gee whiz
    I’m schemein’ my life away

I need you so that I could try
I love you so and that is why
Whenever I want you right by my side
I re-a-lize, my butts to wide
    So I Sche-me-me-me-mee, scheme, scheme,

    FADE
    Sche-ea-ea-ea-eam, scheme, scheme, scheme

That’s the idea.

@AshLeigh Yup – that’s what my brother thought “there’s a bad moon on the rise” was too.

Classic one

Philadelphia Freedom by Elton John

Real lyrics: “a piece of mind my daddy never had.”

Misheard lyrics: “a piece of Mama daddy never had.”

(NSFW) John Valby made a career out of that very thing.

(NSFW) sung to – Put on a Happy Face:
Somebody needs to cheer up
Sit on a happy face
Don’t need to keep your rear up
Sit on a happy face

@AshLeigh and @janbb Ha!. Perfect.

@King_Pariah I like the mishears line better.

@blueiiznh Not THAT’s what I’m talking about. :-)
