What is a good brand of steam iron?

Asked by josie (30934points) April 1st, 2012

I have been ironing my own clothes since I was 16, so I consider myself to be in a position to be discriminating about my tools. My last two irons have been disappointing. They get hot, and produce steam, but they also spit big water drops in addition to steam, which is a major time killer, leaves an occasional spot, plus it sort of pisses me off. Is there a truly great iron out there? The Mercedes Benz of irons if you will?

I have to agree with Rowenta. You can find a range of prices and features. I preferred the basic model .. because I don’t use all the “bells and whistles” .. but self-cleaning is a good thing to have.

I third Rowenta. They seem very durable, too.
