Anyone remember the small ten-pack cereal variety pack?

Asked by john65pennington (29258points) April 9th, 2012

I think I have asked this question before, but since it is slowly disappearing off the stores shelves, I thought I would ask the question again.

Question: does anyone remember the small ten-pack cereal variety pack? They were great to take on camping trips.

I do, but what a waste of packaging. All the serious hikers, trekkers and campers in my family transferred what they needed to ziplock bags (which they reused).

I think Walmart has it and the local supermarket has it.

I think they’re still on sale here but they’re SOO expensive for ten half-sized portions of cereal. Which is probably why they’re not selling much any more. They’re still popular on the breakfast buffets at hotels though.

Loved ‘em.

Not only good for food service industry, but also maybe if you have a sleep-over with a bunch of kids, or adult guests, and you want a variety to please many people.

My dad wouldn’t buy them because he calculated that the price of cereal in those ten pack was much higher that in the big box. Hence we had Puffed Rice, Wheaties, and Rice Krispies but never in the small boxes.

Of course I remember them, but I haven’t been to summer camp in a long, long time.

I genuinely thought they were only to be sold to the dwarf community when I was 25….a kid.
Turns out there are no height restrictions on such a product, amazing really.

I loved them as a kid and my dad bought them for our camping trips too! My little man doesn’t get to eat that kind of cereal, but when we were in the US this past summer I got him a pack so he could try all the different flavours. It was a ‘vacation only’ treat and he did end up liking one of the more healthy types and not the cocoapuffs, which gave me a bit of pride. I found food crazy-cheap in the US (especially taking into account the tanked US dollar….) so we were able to splurge on things, like REAL FOOD and went crazy with fresh fruit for breakfast all everything that was in season in July. I didn’t worry about him having a bowl of cereal for a snack after walking blocks and blocks or swimming in the pool, as long as he brushed his teeth good a bit later on.

I remember those. Wasn’t even all that long ago that I remember last seeing some.

But this is Québec, our milk comes in bags…

Yeah, I remember those… I was annoyed that they included boring choices like corn flakes, instead of being all sugary cereals.

You can still buy them here in the UK.
