Webmasters: Has anyone had to get out of the Google "sandbox", and how did you do it?

I’m pretty sure a new website I’ve created has been “Sandboxed” by Google. I’ve never really had to deal with this conundrum, so I’m open to hints and ideas from anyone that’s had to get out of the sandbox.

I’ve read tons of materials online about this, so I don’t need reference links. I’m looking for personal encounters and how people have actually handled this IRL. Thanks!
