Have you ever used an entire tube of seemingly unending Chapstick?

Asked by Hawaii_Jake (37345points) April 17th, 2012

Those little tubes of Chapstick seem eternal. Like a Timex watch, they keep on ticking even when they take a licking. ;)

Have you ever come to the end of one?

If so, any estimation on how long it lasted you?

Right now, I am contending with the deodorant that never ends. As it’s expensive, I am quite happy about the fact that the Scent Gnomes replenish it every night so I have more each day!

No. I’m a Carmex girl. Chapstick is too waxy for my tastes and it doesn’t really do the job for me… but, during chapped lipped season, I go through those little tubs of Carmex like there’s no tomorrow.

Sure, about once every 4 months. I’ve got 3 or 4 going at a time, too.

@lillycoyote I use MAC Cosmetics has a lip conditioner that is absolutely addictive. It spreads well and a little goes a long way.

It’s not that I am unwilling to try something else, like your suggestion of MAC cosmetics lip conditioner, but I am kind of from the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” school of thinking, Carmex works for me. It works like a champion. It does exactly what I want it to do: it cures/fixes/treats/relieves my chapped lips, pretty much instantly, so I really don’t see myself switching to anything else or see any reason to switch to something else.

I like Carmex too, but in hot weather I’m more likely to use a stick type… I don’t think I’ve ever used one up, though, they seem to get lost or get melted in a hot car.:-p I have used the entire tube of Carmex, though.

Yup, I’ve come to the end of a tube more than once. They were around for so long that it was like saying good-bye to an old friend. It’s hard to guess how long they last as it depends upon how many times in a day it is used. For me, it takes forever, but that’s because there are several tubes in use at once, all strategically located around the house. One is by the bed, another in the bathroom cabinet next to the toothbrush, and a third in my handbag.

@Pied_Pfeffer I’m the same way with my Carmex. I have no idea how long a little tub of Carmex actually lasts me, because I have a couple in my purse, one on my bedside table, and others, as you say “strategically located around the house.” When my lips are get chapped, even if I try preemptive applications of Carmex, it can sometimes sneak up on me and go bad, very quickly and I want relief, fast. I have multiple Carmexes around to ensure that I will be able to lay my hands on one when I need it. I used to keep one in my car, in the glove compartment or the little nook in the dashboard but if I didn’t get them out of there before the summer heat, it could get kind of ugly. :-) That stuff melts pretty darn quickly.
