Death by threes: Who's next after Dick Clark?

Asked by Charles (4823points) April 18th, 2012

It is said, famous deaths often happen in groups of three. Anyone care to guess who are next? (or who “is” next if Mike Wallace was the first, and DIck Clark the second…) or perhaps Thomas Kinkade was number 2???

Princess Diana, Mother Teresa, and Mobutu Sese-Seko died within days of each other in early September of 1997.

David Carradine, Ed McMahon and Farrah Fawcett

I don’t believe in this but I have heard Robin Gibbs is in a coma. He is one of the Bee Gees for those that didn’t know.

George Carlin.

^Yep, that’s the one I’ve been following as well @chyna.

Levon Helm is very sick.

Since Dick Clark and Don Cornelius have both passed this year, I will say it will be Casey Kasem.

and really, it’s about fucking time.

What about Whitney Houston? She had to count. So Dick Clark closed the circle of three.

@bkcunningham George Carlin died almost four years ago.

bkcunningham's avatar

Well, there you go. That’s four deaths then. Or three if we don’t count Whitney.

I’m not playing this game. It’s…. it’s…. unseemly!

Yep, I’d say that Dick has welded a recent circle shut, not opened a new one. R.I.P. Dick..I loved American Bandstand as a kid in the 60’s…Dick was a an huge slice of American Pie.

Man, I am so not touching the “Dick… American Pie” thing. Noticing, but not touching.

@CWOTUS LOL Not even with cool whip on top? snicker

Zsa Zsa seems to be hanging on by a thread. Her health was in dire straits over a year ago, but then about 2 months after that Elizabeth Taylor died.

What I’m saying is that I can think of several famous people who have had some serious health issues, but the next person to pass could be someone comparatively unexpected, such as Clint Eastwood or Dick Van Dyke.

I think Robin Gibb will pass away in the next few days.

Ryan O’Neal has been diagnosed with late stage prostate cancer.

@bkcunningham George Carlin died in June 2008, unless his death was faked. lol

bkcunningham's avatar

I know that, @Coloma. I was being silly.

The flute player from Men at Work was found dead aged 58 yesterday. No details have been revealed yet but Melbourne police are treating it as a crime.

Abe Vigoda, he can’t be the bane of dead pools forever.

This thread has me wondering now… is Generalissimo Francisco Franco still dead?

filmfann's avatar

And @Earthgirl wins with Levon Helm

Brian1946's avatar

Damn- Zsa Zsa will probably outlive Justin Beiber. ;-o

bkcunningham's avatar

But is Levon Helm number three or number one in a new circle of three, @filmfann?

Earthgirl's avatar

Ohhhhh filmfann I don’t really feel like a winner! Poor Levon, I just saw him in Newport at the Folk Festival 2010! This is for you Levon!!! Love you!!!

Earthgirl's avatar

This has lots of talking in it but you can see what Levon was seeing and you can also see and hear him better. I was there.

@downtide RIP Greg Ham. That flute riff was the soundtrack of my childhood.
