Screen options for older windows?

Asked by Nimis (13255points) April 27th, 2012 from iPhone

We have an old craftsman bungalow. It’s cool to have a lot of the original details (built-ins, hardwood floors, etc.). Except we still haven’t figured out how to install screens on those old windows that open outwards.

Help!

Couldn’t you just put the screen on the inside?

@johnpowell They’re not the kind with a little rotating crank. You have to push the window open.

Ooooo… I like those ^^
Maybe you could attach a frame around the inside of your window and build a removable, framed screen which sets inside it. Put some type of latches on the attached frame to hold the screened frame in place. Then you can just remove it when not needed.
Not sure if any of that makes sense. The image is clear inside my head ; )

I wondered if the screens could be put on the inside too, @Ela. I watched the video and I don’t see why they couldn’t. The design made my mind race thinking of improv screen ideas for @Nimis’ windows.

I don’t see why they couldn’t either @bkcunningham. All it would need is a track and a frame wouldn’t it? Some fine tuning would have to made for gaps and such but I think it could be done.
