How do I recover access to my blogspot blog when it seems I have forgotten how to log in to the account?

Asked by Adagio (14059points) April 27th, 2012

I created a Blogspot blog in 2004, used it heavily for a few years but not these days, still, it’s a chunk of my life I do not want to lose and now Blogger have sent me an e-mail:

You are receiving this message because your email address is associated with an unmigrated legacy Blogger account. As we announced in April of last year, legacy accounts will no longer be accessible after May 30th, 2012 unless they are updated to the Google Account system. Any blog content associated with this account will also be unmodifiable after that date.

I’ve tried to sign in over and over again, changed my password but nothing seems to work… Help.…

Sounds like you missed the date.

To the best of my knowledge today is Saturday April 28, still one more months grace, if someone can point me in the right direction I might be able to keep my blog……

There appear to be instructions regarding the migration portion here

In part

Confirm your old login
Use your Blogger username and password. We’ll take all the blogs under this account and switch them to your Google Account.

Next up, choose a Google Account
After you sign in, we’ll have you choose which Google Account you’ll use to sign in with from now on. You can create a new Google Account or link to your existing one.

————————-

So if I understand right, we just need to get you your old login for step one?

I believe the login is the same as the first portion of your url. So if your blog is at

adagio.blogspot.com

Your login would be adagio and you can recover your password here using either your login or your email address.

If that’s not working, is there a particular spot you’re running into trouble?

Many thanks for your comprehensive answer @funkdaddy, I shall try what you suggest and report back : ^)

I’ve managed to sign in but find that they have associated the wrong blog with my account, I have no idea how to get to my own blog… This is very frustrating…

Is it possible you have multiple blogs with them? Are you able to sign in to the “right” one at all?

If you have multiple blogger accounts, you may need to go through the process with each.

Well I finally managed to reclaim my blog (I only have one) so everything is okay now, thank you so much for your suggestions @funkdaddy, they were just what I needed : ^)
