What jewelry to match a pink and black gown?

Asked by Philosophile (450points) April 29th, 2012

I’ve been having trouble finding matching jewelry. The dress can be viewed here: http://www.flirtprom.com/Collection
It’s the second one from the left in the third row, or P4691, in the pink and black color scheme.

I’m having issues finding jewelry to match it. If specific pieces could be found (etsy, etc.) please provide the link! I’ve been having trouble, whether the piece wasn’t the right shade of pink, or the black was too scary (I want black the color, not black in mood).

I appreciate any suggestions! :D

A light pink pearl necklace would be pretty.

Why not something in gold or silver?

My wife says that white goes with anything, so it might be worth considering

Hey, welcome to Fluther. Pink and black spell contrast and dramatic effect. If that’s what you are reaching for, how about something in Pink Sapphire and obsidian or kunzite set in white gold, silver or platinum. Here’s a ring in pink sapphire and kunzite. Or check this work in obsidian that the designer chose to call The Burlesque.

Thanks so far for all the great ideas :) I’ll have to shop around and see if I can find anything like your suggestions :D

I agree with @marinelife – I think you should stick to silver or gold. The dress is very dramatic and I think colored jewelry would seem too busy.

My vote is for black for added drama. It’s a dramatic looking dress, so play it up.

@Philosophile Good luck with the shopping.

I think something black would look nice – it picks up the black accent on the dress.

Alternatively <shamless self plug> I sell jewelry on Etsy; all of my listings are expired right now because I’m away at college and not actively working the shop so there’s no use in linking you to it, but I’ve got a piece that I think would look nice with that dress. If you like this let me know and we can work something out. No hard feelings if not, of course.

How about some dramatic crystal drop earrings; nothing else. Let the dress say it all.

Here and here

I like @ETpro suggestions, black obsidian, or black cut glass, and pink sapphires/crystal/zircon…oooh, good taste my man! Oops..uh..well…you get it lol

@Coloma Thank you.

Go for diamond jewelry, it suits for all type dress.
Gold id also good option. Even red color stone necklace would go well

I would go for silver if you have a light skin tone and gold for a dark/tan skin tone. Gold or silver will be good for the dress and creates a dramatic effect.

When is (was) the prom? What jewelry did you pick?

Philosophile's avatar

The prom is this Saturday. And I’m still looking around, but I’ll likely go with something plain silver. Our local mall is small, so it’s a limited selection, and hard to find some of the suggested items.

chyna's avatar

It won’t matter. You will look so pretty in that gown that no one will notice the jewelry you will be wearing.

Philosophile's avatar

@chyna Haha thank you very much.

@Philosophile Have a great time at the prom.
