Do you think I can get the same quality of photos from a Canon 7d compared to the 5d?

Asked by Carly (4555points) May 12th, 2012

My friend just published some photos of his on a fashion website. His photos are amazing, and I want to be able to produce photography that’s at the same quality level as his.

He used a Canon 5d for these photos. I don’t have enough money for a 5d+ a lens, but I think I could afford a 7d with the same zoom lens (24–105).

Would my photos be noticeably different? Should I hold out and save my money for the best of the best?

Are you an experienced photographer or just learning? I am a ‘learner’ myself and one day would love to own a really brilliant camera, but for now I think I need to focus on learning more about how to use my DSLR well. I don’t know that even if I had a brilliant camera, it would make much difference until I have really mastered the basics. I have a Canon EOS 50D. I just get out there when I can and take lots of photos.

I will be interested in what more experienced photographers have to say though.

Yes. It’s not the camera it’s the eye. I have both cameras . The difference is the sensor size and the FPS burst rate. Each will produce great images if used properly.
