Will Alzheimers be gone by 2025?

Asked by Charles (4823points) May 15th, 2012

The government thinks so:

(Of course the government said we’d be metric by 1980 too.)

Maybe, who knows for certain? But there are still plenty of other dementia inducing diseases/chemicals out there.

I hope so. I wish it could have happened 10 years ago.

Not if the drug/food companies can help it.

Oh, but @SpatzieLover…they could make much more of a killing on a cure or a prevenative than on something to simply address the symptoms after the onset.

Highly unlikely. But, setting such goals are not nonsensical, because even if it is apparent that you will not be able to meet the deadline, the presence of the deadline itself gives motivation and focus on the goal. Without a set date, you would just be drifting along.

That would be wonderful! Like @Dutchess_lll, I wished for it a decade ago and wish it was here right now too in order to save my grandma’s husband who is already in moderate dementia. I’m hoping my mother can head it off and be a candidate for some sort of treatment or cure.
