What apps can run my windows virtual machine created by Parallels Desktop?

Asked by Glad2bhear (209points) June 6th, 2012

I just bought PD last weekend & needed their tech support to get Win ME up & running. However, it only runs in low rez with 16 colors & even they couldn’t help me with that. I was wondering if another emulator could do the job since I’ve already got a virtual machine that runs well. Many of these are free like Virtual box but it wouldn’t take a .pvm file. Any ideas?

You could try VMWare Fusion and use the converter on the image.

It might work but I wouldn’t really count on it.

To be clear, the conversion should work but I doubt the problem will go away.

And I am stupid. Did you install Parallels Tools?

Parallels Tools is only available for Win 2000 & later not Win 9x, so I was told & what I found.

If that is correct the info in the last link I posted is wrong. Make sure you read the link and try to follow the directions.

thanks to you I went to VMWare Fusion for Mac & everything works perfectly. Didn’t even need to convert. Thanks for the tip!
