Anyone watch the mermaid discovery on Animal Planet maybe one month ago or so?

Asked by sufferkate (155points) June 9th, 2012

I saw the hand move but I didn’t think it would lift its head up and it was so ugly!!! If you watched it what did you think about it? Real or faked. The Navy was there and took the body away. All the whales were beaching and there was that body amongst the whales and a young boy got there before the navy with his phone and took a video of it and it really, really was freaky. So to those who watched it.. fact or faked?

Just looked it up here and I have to say it looks completely fake, not even believably real. It was certainly created by graphics.

@Fly Wow what the hell, mermaids VS megalodon. Lawl that was pretty badass.

Doesn’t look like what @sufferkate was talking about though…link? I wanna see this mermaid video.

@Symbeline You have to scroll down to the video titled “Strange Body Found on Beach”. I tried to directly link that video, but it won’t let me, just automatically directs to the first one on the page. After watching it, I can’t see how that’s real. It looks no more believable than a horror movie, and less real than many good horror movies.

And lmao wtf was that. XD

I agree with @augustlan To me I think it’s pretty clear that was from another one of those found footage type movies

I watched it. And I have to agree with their theory that a branch of humans could have turned to the ocean (given the circumstances as stated). After all, the largest mammal in the oceans, whales, once lived on land as small four-footed mammals, but began to spend more & more time in the water. The legends about mermaids are world-wide & go back for centuries. I agree that most of what was presented was supposition & any supporting material was, conveniently, missing. However, I have an active imagination & I found the presentation to be entertaining. You have to remember, we know almost nothing about the species that inhabit our oceans, because we do not have the ability to explore it to any real extent. Every time a submersible succeeds in getting down to the deeper parts of our oceans, they find species that we had no idea even existed. Who knows what they might find the next time someone ventures into the depths?

I watched the show and think there could be something to it. The video was a “reconstruction” of what the boys said happened. The rest of the mermaids wre CGI. I don’t believe anyone has claimed to have actual footage of a mermaid.

Why did they make the mermaids look so creepy?

You can see a woman with a “tail” on certain pornographic websites, otherwise known as a chick with a dick I understand.
