I want to start a fundraiser selling chocolate’s with my friends like back when we were in school. Are there any tips or laws I should know about??

What are you doing the fundraising for… Is it for school, church or just to raise money for yourself?
To donate to local schools in the area.
Do you mean that you want to start a non-profit organization? Yes, there are laws. All sorts of them. Look into 501©3 organizations in your state. Laws differ from state to state.
Talk to the charity to find out if they have a 501c3 that can accept the funds. Then use that as a “sponsor” otherwise you might get into trouble for not having a business license.
If you are looking to set up to donate all proceeds to the school then I would talk to the school and see if they have a 501C3 that you could use in order to do this as a fundraiser event for them.
Would the answers be different if it was just for yourself? My sister needed cash once and wanted to try that….I told her to get a job.
