Can I unplug my external usb drive when not in use?

I have a Seagate ST320005EXA101 2TB Expansion External Drive – 2TB, USB 2.0 which I only use once a day for about 5 minutes. It does not have an on/off switch, so is constantly running. Would it be safe just to unplug the power cable when I’m not using it? Or should I leave it running all the time?
