What Pokemon cards should I get my son?

My 5 year old son is in an aftercare program and the older boys have Pokemon cards. One of the older boys gave my son a “weak” Pokemon card that he didn’t want anymore and the other older boys teased my son and told him it was a powerful Pokemon card. Daddy wants to buy him some “cool” Pokemon cards. Where do I start?
