Does anyone else on Fluther remember a very brief bit of news coverage during which the British Queen's Royal Guards mooned the visiting Japanese Emperor?

Asked by anartist (14808points) August 14th, 2012

They lifted their kilts and mooned the Japanese Emperor during a state visit to UK. This was done to protest WWII. I was called into the living room to witness this on TV by s/o and just saw the very last second. It was some years ago. I have searched the web for it but apparently the Queen’s men have done a good job of disappearing it. Anyone know where I could find a copy?

During Emperor Akihito visit to the UK in 1998 former POW’s turned their backs to him as he was acompanied down the Mall by the Queen. BBC Link but I can’t remember anyone mooning.

No, but I do remember one Indian Maharaja turning his back on the English king as a sign of protest against the so called “British” Raj. Thirty six years later India would be free from English rule…

I don’t remember that, but I do remember a photo of the Queen sitting with some Scottish military folk in kilts, and one guy sitting next to her was very obviously wearing his kilt in the traditional way – with nothing on underneath.

@downtide all the better to moon you with, my dear.

Ah, was it a frontal view?????????????????

:-)))) can you find this pic????????????????????

Long time ago, pagan times, Pictish or Celtic warriors [from which mountain Scots evolved] sometimes displayed their genitals during an attack, which was supposed to frighten the enemy.
