Can someone help me with tricky page number formatting in Office 2010?

Asked by bookish1 (13159points) August 16th, 2012

I’m trying to format a long document for publication, and I’d be tearing my hear out if I had any.

The guidelines require there to be no page number on the first page of each chapter, but the page numbering must be continuous through the whole document.

I can’t figure out how to delete the page number on the first page of each chapter, without having all the previous page numbers in the preceding footers disappear. I already have the first page of each chapter, and then the rest of each chapter, broken into sections. They are currently “Continuous sections.” Should they be “Next Page” breaks instead? Is that what I’m missing?

Does anyone know what I’m talking about? I’ll be forever grateful if someone can help me out with this.

I have a mac, by the way. I’ve already looked for Office 2010 tutorials but they are all in .exe format and I can’t open them >_>
