What is the most physically painless way to bleach sensitive teeth?

My teeth are sensitive and Crest Whitestrips make them ache. For veneers they shave them down so I don’t want that. Same with crowns. So if you had sensitive teeth and wanted them white what would you ask your dentist to do?
