Question about effects of sugar.

Asked by nonexpert (568points) September 7th, 2012

I’ve started noticing after I’ve eaten very sugary foods my eyes become slightly blurred. Similar to when you’re tired and start to lose focus. Has anyone else experienced this?

Don’t eat any very sugary foods.

Haven’t experienced that but you might want to read this and this (diabetes, hypoglycemia).

Obviously the internet isn’t exactly the best place to get expert diagnosis (everything is either a cold/flu, cancer, or imminent death), but those should give you something to ask your doctor about during your next visit and you definitely should mention it.

@nonexpert Not to scare you but that sounds like type 2 diabetes. Get yourself checked for sugar in your urine. One of the few symptoms of type 2 diabetes.

I’d go with what the others above have said.
I’d also like to add that sugar has been proven to make us age faster.

That sounds worrisome, @nonexpert.
One of the first ways I know I have high blood sugar is if my vision becomes blurry and unfocused. I have been a type 1 diabetic for almost 20 years.
Please see a doctor and tell them about this. Ask for a blood sugar test, urine test, and glucose tolerance test, and let us know how it goes. Best of luck.
