If someone on Craigslist sold someone fake tickets can one call the cops on them?

Asked by _Whitetigress (4378points) September 10th, 2012

To add to the original post, we are assuming the buyer had the persons phone number of course, and the seller told the buyer the tickets were real. If they turned out fake, could one file a police report?

I know on craigslist you can report them scamming and they will take them off. I would send them a note and ask them if there is anything that can be done legally. It is selling a forgery ticket so I would think that you could charge them with something. But you will still have the burden of proving it.

Did you pay face value?

If so then I believe you can. If you paid more than they were supposed to cost then you’re complicit in scalping.

Don’t buy tickets over craigslist next time.

Yes, a police report can be filed.
