Can you help me to get my printer to print only black?

Asked by _Whitetigress (4378points) September 23rd, 2012

I have a Canon MP495. I’m printing directly from the web as the format always changes when I try to copy and paste it into Microsoft Word. It seems that there is no option to select “only black.” I have extremely low color levels and I’m trying to print it only black.

Please help? Extremely stressful and I need documents printed asap.

Ok so this is kind of absurd that I’m going to answer it. But maybe one day someone will look up the same exact printer problem.

MP495 (Black Ink Only Solutions)

1. Open [Canon MP495 Series]
2. Click [Settings]
3. Open [Utilities>Open Printer Utility]
4. Click the Scroll Bar Select [Ink Cartridge Settings]
5. Select [Black Ink Only or Color Only or Both]

Phew!

When you go to file than print, then click on “advanced options” then find what says either black and white or grey scale.

Or, you can try to do it in your printer by going to the menu and printing options or advanced options and only print black and white.

Well, I often try to save ink from color cartridge. You can remove the color cartridge from the printer and leave only black cartridge in the printer. That way, it can only print in black.
