WHo was your childhood celebrity crush?

Asked by Taciturnu (6045points) September 26th, 2012

And do you think it has bearing on what your “type“is as an adult?

I’ve been asking people around me, and it seems there is a trend.

My crushes were geraldo riveira, Tom Selleck, George Michael and (oddly enough) Alf. I was always attracted to older men with dark features, preferably with facial hair… I even married an alien.

Robin, from Batman and Robin I was 8 or 9 so I figured Batman was really too old for me…more like a father figure, you know?

Taciturnu's avatar

@Dutchess_III I was more the Batman type. My sister claimed Robin. :)

Dutchess_III's avatar

Robin seemed more like a kid. Batman like a dad.

James Taylor Coincidentally, my high school boyfriend looked very much like him.

Taciturnu's avatar

@WestRiverrat Do you think she’s still your type?”

Jeruba's avatar

Oh, goodness. The first one was probably Fess Parker as Davy Crockett. I even had a coonskin cap.

I can’t think of a single way in which my husband or any of my boyfriends is or was like him, apart from the bare fact of being male.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

My first crushes all centered around the movies/shows I saw them in: Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones), Tom Selleck (Magnum P.I.), and Val Kilmer (Willow).

I guess that means I like dark haired, good looking men who kick ass. I still like the same type.

Dutchess_III's avatar

“Bare” fact of being male. Giggle!!

Dutchess_III's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate Who didn’t fall in love with Val Kilmer in “Willow”?? I was a grown up when that came out! Still am. :)

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

Yeah, I’d still jump Mad Martigan.

Jennifer Connelly and she has aged well. Looking at her now, she is back to being my number 1 celebrity crush.

filmfann's avatar

@Imadethisupwithnoforethought She is unbelievably beautiful in Rocketeer.

Brian1946's avatar

Sophia Loren ♥, Maureen O’Hara ♥, and Connie Francis ♥.

I guess those crushes affected my adult preferences to the extent that I’m attracted to dark-haired women, especially brunettes.

From childhood? Like before I was ten? Tippy Walker who was in The World of Henry Orient withe Peter Sellers.

Also, my favorite Disney star, Hayley Mills .

Tippy Walker is still my “type” even as she is now.

Freddy from the Scooby Doo cartoon.

I’m grateful to say that I have not yet fallen for a cartoon character as an adult.

Linda Carter as Wonder Woman
Hubba

And no, my wife, while beautiful in her own right, does not resemble her.

linguaphile's avatar

Another vote for Robin. I squealed when I saw the end of Dark Knight Rises!! I also loved Zorro. As an adult, I’m attracted to idealistic and intellectual jocks… a connection? Probably!

AshLeigh's avatar

Brittney Spears.
Jim Sturgess.
Amanda Seyfried.

I still consider myself a child, though. :) I’m 17.

In case you want to make a comparison, people I have big fat crushes on in real life:

This girl.
And This cute boyfriend that I have. :)

When a much older sister left for college, I was allowed to move into her bedroom. On the back of the door was this huge poster of a charming man with tousled golden hair and an impish smile. A year or so later, I saw this man in The Great Waldo Pepper, Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid, and The Great Gatsby. Thank you Robert Redford.

JeSuisRickSpringfield's avatar

Christina Ricci. She doesn’t seem to have had too much affect on my “type,” but I just realized while searching for a good picture that she has the same smile as the first girl I ever pursued. Never noticed that before.

Pied_Pfeffer's avatar

Whoops! Pardon me for getting caught up in writing about Robert Redford and not answering the question. His appearance has never been an inspiration for being attracted to someone who remotely looks like him.

Sunny2's avatar

Clark Gable. Handsome devil that he was, I never met anyone who looked the least bit like him.

@ucme Well, I’ve always had the hots for Jessica Rabbit. And I like Popeye too, but only because he can kick major ass, and I want to bite his biceps.

Blondesjon's avatar

Joan Jett.

When I was in 4th grade I was certain that Joan and I would marry. We were going to move in to the tent my brother and I set up in the backyard every summer.

i married a blonde . . .

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@Blondesjon I was at the Hotel Thayer at West Point for a school one time. I got on the elevator one morning. Who’s there but Joan Jett and two of her band mates. The band guys were twigs but she looked like she could kick my ass. She smiled. I was too amazed to say anything.

David Bowie as a kid, and later as a teen, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Mostly because of his role in Conan. This doesn’t reflect my adult type…I mean I can’t even believe these passed crushes haha.

Dsg's avatar

My first crushes were for Shaun pic and David Cassidy pic .....The Partridge Family. partridge family album David Cassidy’s popular song was, I think I love you. Do any of you lady jellies remember that?

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@Symbeline Oh God, I forgot about David Bowie in The Labyrinth! I really had a thing for Jareth.

Dsg's avatar

As I got older it was Rick Springfield….Jessie’s Girl. I recently saw him in concert. Wow he looks pretty good for being 60!

Johnny and Ponyboy and everyone else in this picture.

hmmm, not sure if my husband fits the greaser definition. He does have the dark hair and brooding eyes with a heart of gold. I’ll let you decide.

@nic81 Not as attractive/sexy as the genuine real deal cartoonised Daphne…me love her very, very much :¬)

Dutchess_III's avatar

Oh yeah! Davy Jones @Kardamom! I always hated it when he stood next to the other guys, ‘cause he was so short! I think I was taller than him by the time I was 9!
Also, Micheal Jackson (I had that poster on my wall, too!)
And Bobby Sherman (Had that pic too. Took it out of a “17” magazine.)
Donny Osmond (Yup, that pic too! Did you know he got appendicitis? Yeah! I was sooooo worried about him!)
And this dude. Sajid Kahn. Played on a TV show about India.
Mustn’t ferget David Cassidey Sigh!!
I had more posters and pictures on my wall! In fact, I actually had a mission to completely cover my walls with pictures of cute guys! I probably would have had a small fortune if I’d kept them….

Dutchess_III's avatar

(Now, I’m all, like, nostalgic and stuff. Sniff!)

filmfann's avatar

I should have mentioned Joey Heatherton. She was one of the 60’s sex kittens.
