How do I unlike a page on Facebook?

Asked by marinelife (62485points) October 17th, 2012

I liked a page on Facebook in a weak moment. Now the commercial entity in question keeps constantly polluting my news feed.

How do I unlike them to stop the flood?

Go to the page, where the “like” link was will be replaced by “you liked this page” hover your mouse over it and a window will appear with a link that says “Unlike”. Click the link and it is done.

An alternate method of still “liking” a page but stopping it from spamming you is to click the little down arrow that appears when you hover over the story you don’t want. You then click hide and where the story was you have the choice to hide all stories from that source. You also get the chance to unlike them there as well.

The mobile Facebook site and the Apps do not have full access to the options above… it is best to adjust your Likes, Friends, Subscriptions, Feeds, and privacy settings from a full-sized browser page.

@hearkat the above options can be accessed from both the iphone app and mobile facebook site on an iphone.

@Lightlyseared: The down arrow on a post is not present on the mobile versions when I access them through mobile chrome or mobile Safari, nor is it on the iOS FB apps for iPhone or iPad. They did fairly recently improve the ability to go to a page, that the Like button, and a popup option to toggle whether the posts appear in the newsfeed or not, or to Unlike the page does appear. There also are many other options and settings that are not available from the mobile or iOS versions, which is what I meant when I said that those do not have “full access”... I wrote it hastily while getting ready for work, and admit it could have been worded better.
