What's the best way to remove a nipple ring after 10 years?

I have a nipple piercing and I'd like to remove it. I am a pro at takign the jewelry out, but my question i show to best minimize permanent scarring/how to get it to close up safely.

I had the same question about my navel ring a few years back, and there's not a lot you can do once the scar tissues has already settled around the site, but there is a little help.

What you can use to reduce the actual scarring is either Mederma, which is over-the-counter and has a Neosporin-like consistency, or go to a Dermatologist and get an RX for something called Biafine. Biafine's original pharmaceutical intent is to aid burn victims with cellular turnover of healing skin, but Derms also use it for scarring. Might be worth looking into if the scarring is significant.

i think you can also use vitamin e oil, some of which comes with herbs in it to promote healing.
