Do you know how I might find out who holds my other student loan?

Asked by Nullo (22009points) October 29th, 2012

I murdered one loan with cash poisoning, but the other is still at large. Larger, since the one company that was holding it sold it and I can’t find the relevant paperwork.

Is there a site, or a service, or something that will help me track down this rogue before he can call up an army of debt to ambush me in the midday of my life?

Have you run your credit report? It should be there.

Here is a site I found. Double check and make sure it is legit. I’d call the number I’m providing instead of inputing personal info over the Internet without checking out the site.

The Federal Student Aid Information Center: 1–800-4-FED-AID/TDD 1–800-730–8913 is available 8AM to Midnight (Eastern Time), Monday through Friday, and 9AM to 6PM (Eastern Time), on Saturday.

All of my loan companies (and there are 5 if you count the Federal loans) contacted me pronto after I graduated and gave me all their info and got all of mine. On top of that all the companies holding the loans were listed on my credit report (of which you are entitled to one for free every year).
