Hurricane Damage question: Is _________ Still Standing?

Asked by Seek (34805points) November 2nd, 2012

OK, I’m an ex-New Yorker and I have a huge affinity for my former home. Unfortunately, I have no friends or family left there, so I have no info coming in.

I grew up in Tottenville, the South Shore of Staten Island. There’s a historical landmark there: The Conference House in Conference House park. Also, a large Native American burial mound is on site.

Understandably, most of the news around town is covering missing kids, high gas prices, and whether or not the Tottenville Football Team is going to be held responsible for a girl’s suicide…

As a former Islander and history buff, I’d like to know if the house that hosted some major talks during the American Revolution is still standing. It was right on the water, though standing on a hill. Could be safe, could be destroyed. I just wanna KNOW!

I am so glad to hear it! Now if I could get someone to swing by my old house and take a picture, my heart would be rested. ^_^
