How to find if your rental property has violations?

Asked by tan253 (2948points) November 8th, 2012

We are moving into a new rental property but we just want to check that the landlord is a good landlord and keeps heating on etc etc, we’ve looked at a few houses where the tenants have told us to not move in so now we are being cautious.

I can’t find the website after being told it – we are in NYC does anyone know what it is?

Thanks

Knowing whether a building has violations may not help you much in NYC, but try:

http://www.nyc.gov/html/dob/html/homeowners_and_tenants/homeowners_tenants_main.shtml

Lower left-hand corner lets you put in an address by borrow and get information on the building’s history with violations.

Amazing thank you!

“by borrow” should be “by borough”
