I've wondered: can TSA detect six Valiums out of the bottle?

Asked by Aster (20023points) December 20th, 2012

If someone were to use tape and stick six Valiums , not together, onto various parts of their apparel would anybody pick up on it? Like, one inside a sock, one on your underwear, etc.

Depends whether you go for the Porno-Ray or the TSA Grope, I suppose.

Best question since frizzer.

They could. If they noticed something stuck with tape, they might check.

I accidentally did it once and they were in plain sight in my carry on….only when I made it back home did I realize it was illegal. And if you have a script, I don’t think it’s even illegal is it?

janbb's avatar

Why would it be a problem to carry valium? I always take pills through.

cookieman's avatar

I think it would be better if you tied a piece if string accross both nipples (like a clothes line) and strung the pills from there like Christmas lights.

Should TSA say anything, tell them it’s a lifestyle choice.

Aster's avatar

@marinelife How could they see one tiny pill taped INSIDE a sock? And they don’t stick their hands underneath socks, do they? Or do you have to remove your shoes and socks.

janbb's avatar

Why are you asking this question?

gailcalled's avatar

@cookieman: I was thinking of pasties but I like your idea better.

Aster's avatar

@janbb Why would you ask me why I’m asking? Is that commonplace for you or do you find it peculiar that I’d ask such a question.

janbb's avatar

@Aster I guess it’s becoming a little more commonplace for me because I do wonder what the motivation behind some of the questions asked. I understand that you don’t have to answer me.

bookish1's avatar

Honestly, tape is not the best way to go. It’s not secure enough. I’m sure you can think up something more creative.

KNOWITALL's avatar

I say just don’t act guilty and have them in your pocket, surely 6 pills aren’t that big a deal are they? ;)

glacial's avatar

Um, why wouldn’t you be able to fly with vallium?

trailsillustrated's avatar

Put em in a bottle and stick em in your check in baggage. It’ll be fine. I wouldn’t worry about all the tape and socks. ( have traveled everywhere, often, recently, pills in checked baggage. No problems ever. )

Shippy's avatar

I’m so confused.

KNOWITALL's avatar

Apparently this person wants to smuggle Valium OUT of the country and doesn’t have a valid prescription. That is what I’m getting out of this anyway.

Shippy's avatar

@KNOWITALL Oh? Well in that case, I’ve always been on med’s and traveled all over and just shoved them in my makeup bag.

trailsillustrated's avatar

they want to smuggle…6 pills?

Lightlyseared's avatar

They probably wouldn’t detect them but if they do you are totally fucked.

KNOWITALL's avatar

I know, I never even think about it. I bought my mother-in-law xanax in Mexico because we were flying during Hurricane Ivan and apparently that makes me an international drug smuggler….hahaha! I had no idea for realz, I was just trying to help her get comfortable.

Aster's avatar

OK , but many or most pharmacies in Mexico give you a real prescription @KNOWITALL. So you may have had that with you.

KNOWITALL's avatar

Nope, no prescription. Someone told me I could go into the pharmacia and just ask, so I did and they handed them over for the pesos, seriously.

Mariah's avatar

Sounds like a really bad idea. I don’t know how likely they are to catch it, but if they did, it’d be obvious you were trying to hide something and would look super suspicious. And you don’t want to give the TSA any reason to be suspicious of you.
