Have you ever received that special present that you really wanted that made you as excited as Ralphie when he got his Red Ryder BB gun?

If so what was it and how did you react?

Yep. I really wanted a Kindle Fire tablet last year, and my hubby actually got me one. I almost cried from the excitement. I jumped up and squealed like a little kid and attacked my hubby, planted kisses all over his face, then squealed some more. It was fantastic!

Many years ago, for my 10th wedding anniversary, I asked for a special collection of hardbound books: the complete works of Mark Twain. They were over $300, and my then-husband thought I was insane. Like, “who gets books for a special anniversary???”

Anyway, I was sure he wouldn’t get them for me, and everything he did supported that belief. He gave me a watch at home, then whisked me away for a surprise weekend get-away. At the hotel, he gave me a diamond tennis bracelet (the watch had been a ruse). The bracelet was beautiful, and I was very happy about the gift. I thanked him profusely, of course.

In the corner of the hotel room, there was a cardboard box that I’d paid no attention to, thinking it was hotel supplies or something. He finally had to direct me to check out that box. Inside it were the books I’d asked for. I jumped up and down, and threw myself at him for a big hug. Still love those books! Awesome anniversary, all the way around.

Yes, yes, I’m answering my own question. When I was just a wee lad my dad bought me a Sega Genesis. I was so excited I jumped up to give him a hug and I accidentally hit him in the mouth and made him bleed.

No, but my son professed love for me twice when he saw the big present I got. I think he’d given up hope and then, all of a sudden, there is was. He’d been lobbying for it for months. And truth to tell, I was pretty excited, too, even though I was the one who bought it. But he put it together, and I didn’t have to deal with that. Hooray!

My favorite gift ever might be the one I got from my daughter this year.
She gave up smoking.

Yep, my sears Roebuck .22 rifle. And no I didn’t put my eye out with it. I went out and shot a rabbit and a couple squirrels for supper the next day.
