Please help me restore the original Safari that came with my MacBook?

Asked by desiree333 (3219points) January 16th, 2013

I have a MacBook OS X, version 10.7.5. One day I happened across the “update” for the new Safari application. I decided to download it. However, now there is a white “X” sign on the Safari button on my dock. When I go to open the application, a box pops up that says: “You can’t use this version of Safari with this version of Mac OS X, The application requires 10.8 or later”.

Great! So now I have no idea how to get my old Safari back.. I don’t understand why Apple would update a program and not allow all units to access it. I checked to see if I could update my Mac to a 10.8, but there are no system updates available. I also tried downloading an older version of Safari but that didn’t work either. Please help!
