Messed up text in file?

Asked by XOIIO (18328points) January 26th, 2013

Alright, so I am getting my hands on a mod for a game for video making purposes, of course, this mod is Russian, and I have the idea of how it works and it’s installation procedure, however the text which was originally Russian in the text file now turns out as this.

Óñòàíîâêà:

1) Ïàïêè VOIP è AvatarInputHandler ñêîïèðîâàòü ñ çàìåíîé(ñóùåñòâóþùèå ïàïêè ïåðåä ýòèì íå óäàëÿòü!) â World_of_Tanks\res\scripts\client, ïðåäâàðèòåëüíî ñäåëàâ áýêàï íà âñÿêèé ñëó÷àé

2) Ôàéë cammodcfg.xml ñêîïèðîâàòü â World_of_Tanks\res\scripts

Èñïîëüçîâàíèå:

1) Ñâîáîäíàÿ êàìåðà âêëþ÷àåòñÿ ïîñëå íà÷àëà áîÿ èç àðêàäíîãî ïðèöåëà, ëèáî ïîñëå ñìåðòè. Êíîïêà âêëþ÷åíèÿ ïî óìîë÷àíèþ G. Îòêëþ÷åíèå òàê æå. Óïðàâëåíèå WSAD + ìûøü. Ñêîðîñòü ïåðåìåùåíèÿ ðåãóëèðóåòñÿ ïî óìîë÷àíèþ êíîïêàìè I è K.

2) Ñíàéïåðñêèé ïðèöåë ÑÀÓ âêëþ÷àåòñÿ ëèáî êîëåñîì ìûøè, ëèáî êíîïêîé T (ïî óìîë÷àíèþ). Îòêëþ÷àåòñÿ òàê æå.

Íàñòðîéêà:

Íàñòðîéêà ïðîèçâîäèòñÿ â ôàéëå cammodcfg.xml

Ïðèÿòíîãî íàãèáà! :D

My question is, how do I get the original text back?

My guess is that you’re using a text editor that can’t handle cyrillic. Try opening the file with a different editor.

You will encounter that a lot when dealing with World of Tanks ;)
