My work computer is down for a few days, so I am taking a few days off. I hope to get my tax information assembled, and go to the movies tomorrow.

Coloma's avatar

I am exhausted!
Started a new part time job on Monday and am in training. Worked my little ass off the last 3 days and today is a day of R&R, maybe dinner company and watching the latest “Dexter” season 6 on Netflix. A cold rainy and snowy storm rolling in tonight and I am all set with supplies for the next few days. I am going nowhere at all today, yay!

jonsblond's avatar

Good. We’re getting rain in February. I’d prefer snow. I’m happiest when it’s cloudy and we need the rain here in the Midwest, so I’m not going to complain…much. (I love snow. Our winters have been mild the past two years and I’m not liking it.)

Mariah's avatar

Glad the week is coming to a close soon; it’s been a nutty one. I have a midterm tomorrow that I’m nervous about, so my life is going to remain stressful until the weekend. Looking forward to getting a chance to relax.

wundayatta's avatar

I need a drink. A warm drink. I did not have breakfast today. I am feeling low, as a result.

AshLeigh's avatar

I hate Thursdays.
Monday number four. :(

gailcalled's avatar

Bracing for another huge snow storm tomorrow. Minimum is a foot. So it’s off to town and then the usual battening down.

However, I just bumped into two word that I love and had forgotten about…jollification and concatenary

And I have a pot of freshly brewed Earl Gray tea.

KNOWITALL's avatar

Doing great, thank you for asking. I hope you’re doing well? It’s a beautiful rainy day in the Ozark hills!

gailcalled's avatar

^^^I am in the middle of reading a wonderful book by Sue Hubbell, about a year she spent on a farm in the Ozarks, raising bees, making honey and managing over 300 hives while she recovered from the end of a long marriage. A Country Year: Living the Questions

(Thanks to @syz’s thoughtful recommendation).

rojo's avatar

Better. Could use more sleep.

bookish1's avatar

Quite well, thank you. A bit hung over but not too much. I unexpectedly stayed out til 3 am with several good friends. Hadn’t seen them in too long, and I was just going to stay home and work and feel lonely, so I’m very glad they invited me out. I’m cooking vegetable couscous right now and I’m looking forward to hours of work without having to leave the house.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

The day started out like crap but it’s getting better. And we have another monster storm headed our way. What’s life without a few challenges? Who needs power or transportation?

janbb's avatar

Still getting over the upper respiratory thingy I caught from my Ex. At work but I want to be in bed.

Seek's avatar

Meh.

Car was fixed, but the radiator effed up again last night. We can’t seem to get the thermostat to kick on. I know there’s a vaccuum leak, and most of the hoses need to be replaced. It’s a serious pain in the arse to have a 25 year old car.

In good news, it’s a quiet day at work, and my hubby’s birthday is this Saturday. We’re going to visit my favourite used book store. It’s a bit of a hike from my house, so we don’t get there as often as we’d like – probably a good thing for my bank account. Also, speaking of the bank account, I got my tax return and my car insurance renewal notice on the same day. So while I’d rather have spent my tax return on fun things, at least I have the capital to cover the insurance for another six months.

burntbonez's avatar

How? What do you think? I’m an Indian? How racist is that! I demand you rewrite the question. It is totally offensive!

zenvelo's avatar

I am dog tired, but it is a synthetic Friday, since I am taking my daughter and her friends to see “Fun” tonight and skipping work tomorrow.

JLeslie's avatar

I’m ok. I am resting this morning. My errands and chores will start soon. Lots to do. I was away for three weeks and I have to fill my fridge, go to the bank, continue to sort and throw things away for our move, and tonight go to zumba (looking forward to it) for the first time in about month.

Shippy's avatar

Tough day all round I’m tired. I had a salt bath for the aches :)

cookieman's avatar

I’m sad this week as one of my students was murdered the day after I denied her appeal for a deadline extension. She was not happy with my decision, and then her ex killed her the next day. I know it’s unrelated, but I couldn’t help feeling bad. She leaves behind a young daughter.

bookish1's avatar

Oh @cookieman, how horrible. I can’t imagine how it would feel to lose a student like that. Hugs if you want them.

ucme's avatar

I’m as happy as a dog with two cocks!

Bluefreedom's avatar

I’m recovering from a sprained tailbone and it’s going to take at least 2 weeks to feel better, according to the doctor. So, with that in mind, I could be doing better but I’ve been worse.

ZEPHYRA's avatar

Could be better but could be a lot worse!

gailcalled's avatar

@Bluefreedom: How do you sprain a tailbone? It does sound uncomfortable, whatever the definition.

YARNLADY's avatar

My son and his wife found a puppy in their yard and now they want to keep her. My husband is very upset, and insists we can’t afford another dog. They claim they are cleaning up their house and looking harder for a job, to pay for it. It’s very upsetting, because I love pets.

harple's avatar

I’m so tired I can’t even write a proper answer to this. Formulating sentences has failed me today in speech, and this is taking too much brain power. There’s a heck of a lot going off in life right now and am feeling quite low, but don’t have the energy to go into it all. Thanks for asking though.

raven860's avatar

Lol, my stomach is BAAAD & rumbling! Oh noes!

raven860's avatar

@burntbonez I don’t get the joke?! :O
@cookieman That is quite unfortunate. Hope you feel better soon.
@Adirondackwannabe Lol!
@harple I hope you get some rest soon!
@Bluefreedom Ouch! Are you pretty much restrained to your bed and your stomach?
@ZEPHYRA I agree! but guess what its not! Time to celebrate!
@YARNLADY Well at least its not a cat ;D
@ucme A whole new meaning to “double penetration” haha
@Seek_Kolinahr I really think you need a new car! Even a 10 year old car would do you wonders (given the scenario)
@JLeslie Sounds like a lovely break! A lovely break that I need to find for myself!
@Shippy Been there and that sounds like a day I shall be having tomorrow! :(
@zenvelo Synthetic Friday FTW!!!
@janbb Wish you a speedy recovery!!!
@gailcalled Sounds like the Good life!
@bookish1 Wow, that sounds like one amazing time! I feel slightly jealous; mostly because I have not had those in a while! :(
@rojo I CONCUR!!!
@KNOWITALL Good to hear that. I am dong good too! Thank you. It was a rainy day here to in the silicon valley. And now it is a bit cold. brrrr!!
@AshLeigh Oh! True! True! But I work weekends and so it is Monday#1 for me tomorrow :O
Imagine that!
@wundayatta A warm glass of…..MILK?!
@Mariah Ahhhhh Midterms!!!! I know the feeling! You always sound like a very intellingent person and so I am sure you shall do well! relax!
@jonsblond Snow is nice! But but but I prefer to stay mobile and like warm sunshine…it is why I live in California and visit snowy places when I can!
@Coloma Ooh I actually got few days off…miss the money but a mini vacation was worth it!
@filmfann Perhaps you should let me know the make and model of that computer. So that I can be blessed in similar unexpected ways :D

Hope all you are well and relaxed at the end of today! :)

Mariah's avatar

@raven860 Thanks so much, and thanks also for asking such a thoughtful question in the first place.

Tomorrow’s a “snow day,” so my weekend has come early! Yippee!

Seek's avatar

@raven860 if you’re offering to donate to the cause, I take PayPal.

Coloma's avatar

Still exhausted but my daughter came over for dinner without her boyfriend, haha…sooo, we had a great time having a girls night. Had dinner and lounged in my giant bean bag loveseat in my TV room and watched “7 Psycopaths”, gave each other massages and then gossiped and laughed about her dad and his wife that are so made for each other.
Tons of fun! :-D

cookieman's avatar

@JLeslie: I know. Horrible.

@bookish1: Thank you so much.

So to add to the funk, one of my teachers (who works for me) tells me today that she’s been diagnosed with cancer and it’s bad.

I’m at a loss.

augustlan's avatar

Oh my goodness, @cookieman. {Hugs} and more {hugs}.

I’m exhausted. It’s been an incredibly busy week, and the busyness will continue throughout the weekend. I figure I’ll sleep a LOT on Monday, and be back to semi-normal on Tuesday. I hope.

Seek's avatar

Totally flunkering today. Woo!

janbb's avatar

I’ve been sick all week and now it’s in my sinuses and I’m really getting down.

YARNLADY's avatar

Oh, @janbb, me too. It’s just miserable. I had a sinus infection last month that was treated with antibiotics and cleared up, then I got reinfected this month.

AshLeigh's avatar

Said goodbye to a very close friend today. He is moving to California. I’m glad I got to see him, and hug him goodbye, but it was really sad to see him go. :(

Bluefreedom's avatar

@raven860 and @gailcalled.

According to the doctor, if you’re sitting for long periods of time and keep re-adjusting your sitting position frequently, you can aggravate and sprain your tailbone. Who knew? Anyway, it prevents you from sitting for any length of time without pain and discomfort. So, it’s a few different types of meds for healing and sitting on cushions to drive and while at work and home. Not very fun.

rojo's avatar

@Bluefreedom Do you sometimes think they make this stuff up on the spot when they have no idea just to have some sort of answer?

Bluefreedom's avatar

@rojo. It wouldn’t surprise me especially when you consider that I was seen by a PA (Physician’s Assistant) instead of a doctor at Luke Air Force Base. And I think that’s because the military is trying to save more money by cutting out the doctors on staff. Not very comforting to those of us who are ill or suffering from a medical condition of some sort.

I’m not sure of all the differences between a PA and a doctor but I would have liked to have seen my regular primary care physician that I’ve had for the last several years.

rojo's avatar

I think a PA cannot prescribe drugs and is, ostensibly, under the supervision of a doctor who can. Wikidefinition Just like in any other profession, there are very capable ones and ones who are questionable.

JLeslie's avatar

Absolutely a PA can prescribe. A PA has less education than an MD or DO. They can handle many things, and sometimes are better at forming relationships with patients similar to Nurse Practitioners. It depends on the individual medical professional. If you have a complicated health matter an MD might be a better choice.

rojo's avatar

They can? Learn something new everytime I come here.

JLeslie's avatar

I just clicked your link now, wondering what you had linked that might have said differently, and it says it at the top of your page.

Bluefreedom's avatar

@rojo. Thanks for posting that Wikipedia link. It was informative. (I still wish I had seen my regular doctor though. Oh well.)

gailcalled's avatar

I have had brilliant results with PA’s who worked with my previous two PCP’s. They did prescribe. We were also very happy with the PA that my mother saw. They all consulted with the PCP where and when we both thought it was appropriate.

Having them as part of the practice often means being able to rush over for a quick appointment.

It is warm enough today so that I can shovel the snow and ice left on my deck. Oh, frabjous day.

augustlan's avatar

FWIW, one of my doctor friends told me to always see an MD if you need a diagnosis, but that a PA is fine if it’s for maintenance issues or regular cold/flu type stuff.

janbb's avatar

Anyone know where a Medicaid patient can go for antibiotics for bronchitis if he has no regular MD?

augustlan's avatar

An urgent care place might do the trick. Maybe get a nebulizer treatment there, too?

janbb's avatar

@augustlan I called one but we will have to pay full freight. Have suggested it.

JLeslie's avatar

@janbb There must be doctors who take medicaid.

@augustlan PA’s and NP’s can specialize. They don’t just do GP type stuff. My NP in my endocrinologist’s office knows more about thyroid than most GP’s in my opinion. She also is the one who discovered I was low in vitamin D, no one else was testing it.

Why does medicine seem so hit or miss, it’s so frustrating.

augustlan's avatar

@janbb Oy. If you think you have bronchitis, though, it’s worth it to get going on treatment right away.

janbb's avatar

@augustlan Agree. Have suggested it to my friend.

jonsblond's avatar

@janbb Your friend can also try an emergency room as a last resort. They take Medicaid.

raven860's avatar

@Bluefreedom

Do you happen to have a pionodial cyst? If not then consider yourself lucky and do everything the doctor says to avoid it. It’s not fatal or anything og the type obviously but can be very annoying.

Coloma's avatar

Don’t ask. I am in the vortex of a hurricane of life changes.
Lord have mercy on my poor exhausted being right now.

JLeslie's avatar

@Coloma Vortex of a hurricane of life changes. You and me both. I ate two fortune cookies today (I have a box in my house) hoping I would get a fortune that would help me. Not so lucky.

Bluefreedom's avatar

@raven860. I sure hope I don’t have one of those. It sounds particularly ominous. My condition seems to be getting better so that is a positive sign. I’m more careful now in how long I sit and following closely what the PA told me to do.
