Did you change your mind somewhere along the way?

Asked by Pachy (18610points) February 21st, 2013

Name 1–3 things you used to love and now dislike and/or 1–3 things opposite that. To give an example, when I was growing up I detested the taste of pineapple but now I love it (if it’s fresh, not canned). And when I was a young adult I loved martinis but now I can’t stand them taste or aroma. Your change of mind can have to do things as simple as your tastes in food or as deep as your core beliefs.

I used to like Bazooka bubblegum, now the idea of it turns my stomach. Used to love music by Fleetwood Mac (during the Rumours era) but I played the heck out of it so much that I cannot listen to it now, however the newer FM stuff like Say You Will, I like just fine, but I still can’t listen to their old stuff, even though I know how good it is/was I just heard it too much. I used to like to ride bikes. Doesn’t appeal to me anymore.

Used to hate mushrooms, now they’re a staple for me. I put them in soup, on top of pizza, in enchiladas and even on quesadillas. Used to hate Jazz, my mind was changed in my late 30’s when a co-worker brought in Mile’s Davis’s Kind of Blue. I had heard songs from it many times, in my youth, but when I was a kid, I hated it. That album opened me up the possibility of other Jazz music. I used to not like any spicy food, simply because it hurt my tongue to eat it. I guess my tastebuds must have mellowed out, because now not only do I like spicy food, I actually crave it. I’d much rather eat a burrito with some spicy salsa than a piece of chocolate (with which I’m only meh).

I used to hate peas as a young child and then my aunt cooked them for me and I changed my mind completely.

At school I hated modern history. I thought it was so boring. Now, history in all forms is fascinating to me.

I can’t think of a third right now.

I used to hate raisins, bananas, and grilled chicken. Now I love all three! I just started liking them all out of the blue within the past year or so.

I used to love Bubble Tape, I could chew a whole roll of the stuff in a day! Now I have absolutely no desire to chew it, it’s just not as appealing as it was when I was a kid, I guess!

I used to hate coffee, but now it’s one of my favorite things to drink. Black with just a little nonfat milk, no less! It took me a while to get a taste for it, everyone has always said it’s an acquired taste, and I totally get it now!

Perhaps the strangest change to me is that for the first 15 or so years of my life, I was obsessed with milk. We’d go through at least 2 gallons of milk a week, I drank it with every meal, and a lot of it. All of a sudden, about a year or so ago, I just stopped liking it! I rarely ever drink it now, every once in a while I will get a craving for just a little bit and have a small glass, but I don’t think I’ll ever have the same affinity for it as I once did.

Uné;
Used to think Harry Potter was bullshit, until I read it. All books, in less than two months. Then it was awesome. Haven’t seen any of the movies though. They’re probably all bullshit, anyways.

Deuce;
When I was a kid, Star Trek was bullshit, because all they ever did is talk about shit that doesn’t make any sense. But now, while all they say still makes no sense, somehow it’s fucking awesome. Spock forever yo.

Trio;
Again, as a small child, I used to tell myself, man I’m never gonna get into these Conan comic books, because- HOLY SHIT NAKED BITCHES AND BLOOD!! I’m there, dude.

Quadro;
I used to think that the My Little Pony meme was bullshit, and it still is.

Horror movies, however, were always awesome.

I loved peanut butter, now the mere thought of it repulses me ugh!

I loved horror movies and I have kind of gone off them. They are just not scary anymore?

I used to think skinny or very slim girls were sexy, now I find them boring.
