What do you mean by online education source? In the broadest sense, I use them all the time, including Fluther. If you mean, online universities, I have so far enrolled in a course or two, but dropped out early. I plan to make use of materials from sources like MIT and Couerera, even if there is not a class currently in session.

Yes. I need to complete a certain number of continuing professional education (CPE) credit hours to maintain my CPA license and APA certification. Although I attend many live, face-to-face sessions, I also take some online courses because they’re inexpensive. Internet education is a good way to cut costs and be economical.

The top 3 right now are Coursera, edX, and Udacity.

I took all the classes I needed to get my California Brokers license on line.
My grandson is doing a public elementary school online and I have a friend who is considering doing law school online.

I just signed up for an online course at Harvard through EdX
