When is it too late to become a model?

Asked by Shippy (10015points) March 4th, 2013

Clearly it is never too late! The worlds oldest super model is 81.

Such an inspiration and she is really beautiful. Do you know of any aging or elderly people who inspire you? Links would be appreciated. Elderly could be relative like 40 for example!

It is never too late to become a model, not even when you are already dead.

Too late for me to become a model. But hell. It was too late when I was just born. It was said that may father took one look and he fled to the bathroom, where he was heard retching.

Carmen is a very beautiful woman and still carries herself well. I would think that good health, the ability to present the proper frame, agility and radiance play into this as much or more than actual “beauty.”

Looking only at females (since your example is a woman), there are many models, actresses, entertainers who are well past their prime who continue to “work the room” wherever they appear: Helen Mirren (67), Dame Judi Dench (78), Joan Baez (72) are three that come to mind off the top of my beanie.

Catherine Deneuve is still gorgeous.

Carmen is very inspiring, but of course she didn’t become a model at this age. She’s been modeling since her teens. There is a very good market for older models though. It’s a niche category which many agencies have a division exclusively devoted to and there are indeed some women who don’t begin modeling until that age. I still model occasionally and I’ll be 50 in June. I certainly don’t consider myself elderly even in the most relative sense of the word though. that made me lol

I’m very inspired by my own mother, who just turned 92. She had an impressive career, also raised 7 kids, still lives on her own and is as independent, strong and beautiful as ever.

I had my very first wank over Catherine Deneuve, even read the subtitles during, a pretty neat trick all things considered ;-}

That’s a gorgeous 81-year-old woman.

@SadieMartinPaul I like that she’s honest enough to admit she uses fillers too.

She is beautiful but she’s had more than fillers. She’s had an eyelift and a lower facelift. Nothing wrong with that.

Twiggy is still modelling for Marks and Spencer in the UK. A friend of mine was modelling into her 40s and she then chose to give it up.

All I know is that it’s never too late to become full-sized !

Haha @ucme, do you remember which movie it was? ;)

Carmen indeed looks amazing!
Here are some of the older (but not elderly! I don’t like that word. It conjures up nursing homes) women I admire not only for their looks and joie de vivre but their intelligence and creativity.

Arianna Huffington She’s 62

Judy Collins She’s 73

Christiane Amanpour She’s 55

Paula Zahn She’s 57

Donna Karan She’s 64
