How do I get the battery icon back onto my taskbar at the bottom of my laptop?

Asked by AshlynM (10684points) March 6th, 2013

I just noticed that the battery icon on the bottom of my laptop is missing. I right clicked and clicked on properties, and in the notifications area tab, the power box is completely grayed out. Why? Now I don’t know how much power I have left.

That is part of the reason I went with a third-party alternative; the Windows battery meter is unreliable in more ways that one.

Personally, I use the free version of BatteryBar Pro. It’s more reliable, more accurate, and better looking. I don’t think the full version is worth the $8 since the basic version does what I need it to do, but it is one way to get a batter meter back on your taskbar… and a better one at that.

Assuming you have a PC laptop, go to Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Power Options > Advanced tab > click Always show icon on the taskbar.
