Are there any photos that you can find of Obama in the Oval Office without a tie on?

Asked by jca (36062points) March 10th, 2013

I have a conservative FB friend who is always, always, always ranting on tirelessly about Obama, liberals, blah blah blah. Most of the time I ignore it as I feel that people have the right to their own opinion and can express anything they’d like, but I will, sometimes dispute when I feel he’s incorrect, or I’ll point out inconsistencies with his view.

Today he wrote something about Reagan “being the type of guy who would wear a tie to the Oval Office on his day off just out of respect.”

I would love to ask if he’s seen any photos of Obama in the Oval Office without a tie on, just to bust chops.

I can’t find any. Can you?

I would love to ask if he’s

Yep. Here’s one and here’s another.

However, here’s one of Reagan. So much for that theory.

I don’t understand how a photo of Obama in the Oval Office without a tie would bust chops. Do you mean a photo of Obama wearing a tie in the Oval Office?

@bkcunningham she meant that if no such photo exist she could bust his chops by saying “yea well prove it” but wanted to check here first with us as to not look like an ass when the friend comes back with several pictures of Obama without said tie.

What the hell’s the point of being POTUS if you can’t even decide whether or not to wear a stupid necktie?

bkcunningham's avatar

I agree, @ETpro. Silly. I imagine the post her friend posted about Reagan’s respect for the Oval Office goes beyond wearing a tie though.

@ETpro WOW.

POTUS isn’t about you! It is suppose to be a service and a sacrifice because you love your country. The point of the office isn’t what you get out of it… it is what you give back. Kings even with total power and control over their subjects were still bound by the impossible requirement to earn what they had been given and to exceed expectations. Those who don’t aspire to do so are failures even if they got to pick their necktie or lack thereof. Obama won’t eat his Broccoli!!! Shame on him.

Bet he’d have stroke over this one!

@muhammajelly The RWNJs who want to hate the guy will hate him for going tie-less and thus disrespecting the office, or acting uppity and wearing a tie. My point is if a man isn’t up to deciding what to wear, he probably isn’t up to deciding how to be the chief executive officer of the world’s richest nation and the Commander in Chief of the world’s most powerful military.

Oh, and I didn’t even remotely suggest that being the President of the United States is about me. But those driven by hate and prejudice will find a way to justify it. It never fails.

May be slightly off-topic, but seriously, are photographs so important that the president can’t have a frakking computer on his desk? I mean, a leatherbound journal and a land line? What is this, 1884?

^^ I didn’t even realize that till you pointed it out, Seek. Good catch!
