What energy drink should I have today?

Asked by XOIIO (18328points) March 12th, 2013

Alright, so despite my effords I had another night where I could not sleep and was not tired until 45 minutes ago, but I need to be awake tommorow.

Seeing as this much time awake would not be helped by coka cola or pepsi, I think it’s time for me to have one of those new fangled high caffeine drinks.

Thing is, I’ve never bothered to have one before, so what should I get? We most commonly have rockstar and monster here, as well as redbull, however I’ve heard redbull can taste nasty.

I’m looking for something that doesn’t taste like crap, so what flavor/brand should I go for? I guess the flavours I like are orange (more of the fake orange)/peach, also raspberry, strawberry, not sure if there would be anything simmilar but that one SoBe drink, its orange, I think it’s mango something, that’s good.

Anyways, guide me, caffiene junkies, my energy drink cherry shall be popped by the drink of your reccomendation.

—Is that a little too wierd? My judgment is poor right now)

As a person with severe sleep problems, I highly recommend that you avoid drinking more caffeine than you usually do. Rather, do the unthinkable and try to go for a walk to start your day. When you feel groggy during the day and are tempted to grab more caffeine or sugar, get up and get moving again.
If all else fails, avoid the energy drinks and go for a small coffee.

@tom_g I do get up, walk around, do stuff to stay awake, however I’d usually have a couple liters of coke in this situation, the thing is taking in that much sugar is clearly unhealthy, not to mention time consuming. It would probably even out anyways.

As for coffe, I’m not a fan, I’m short enough as is (lol) and I don’t really like the taste, although when I worked at a gas station they had an awesome french vanilla.

Have you tried this newfangled thing called “coffee” yet?

The only one I’ve ever liked is Bawls

And it’s really hard to find.

@Seek_Kolinahr Oh shit, we have that here and I’ve had it once or twice.

Super caffeinated root beer, good good that’s perfect. Hopefully the store I saw it at has it still.

Not sure I get the “short enough” joke. But when you’ve had some sleep, consider trying to cultivate a taste for coffee. I mean coffee – not those fake coffee drinks that are loaded with sugar or flavorings. Start with a freshly-roasted and ground dark roast with a touch of cream. No sugar. There appear to be health benefits associated with coffee, it could offset your apparently huge sugar consumption, and it’s really a great drink.

@tom_g Coffe supposedly stunts growth.

^^ Myth that I was unaware of before. But very much a myth. Many studies have shown health benefits, however.

That growth-stunting thing is just something parents say to keep kids out of their coffee.

I’m not an energy drink fan, they aren’t very healthy for you. That being said, most taste like crap to me so I usually pass.

Do some Jaeger bombs, red bull and Jaeger, they’re not too bad, & you’ll sleep good tonight…lol
(May want to stop after 3 depending on your tolerance.)

erm

Guru is kind of good, tastes like liquified candy cane. But I stick to strong coffee, although I use caffeine to start a day, not prolong it.
Sounds crazy I know, but when you’re sleep deprived, eating a banana or two can really help with energy surplus, and bananas can do this in a way that doesn’t make your body wish it had another soul.

Well somehow I stayed up until 4 then passed out until 9:30 this morning, so meh
