NSFW Why do women pant/breathe hard during intimacy?

Asked by cutiepi92 (2252points) March 15th, 2013

I know I can’t help it, even if it isn’t sex but him fondling my breasts or sucking on my neck….I’ve always done that even when I first became “active”. My question is why? I just don’t understand why it happens and is nearly uncontrollable for me. That and squirming slightly

It’s nature’s way of giving you practice for child birth delivery.

The same “pant/breathe” occurs then too.

Notice the physical reactions of extreme pleasure, and extreme pain, come full circle, and are practically identical. Even the “squirming slightly”... everything you describe is also applicable for extreme pain too.

You get turned on and your heart rate goes up and your respiration increases. You start squirmng for the same reason. Your body comes alive and you have to move. It’s 100 percent natural. It happens with guys too.

Birds do it, bees do it, beavers and fleas do it, the natural physiological reaction to sexual arousal. Even my goose breathes hard and nearly drowns himself when he is having a magic moment with the garden hose in his pool. lol

@Coloma what’s good for the goose is good for the gander…

@Adirondackwannabe I was gonna say… if it’s like us guys, it’s because we can’t help it. We’re wired up that way.

@Coloma Just be thankful you aren’t a porcupine doing it. Especially a male porcupine. Porcupines have real enough reasons to be breathing hard.

Breathing heavy is probably due to the fact that is physical, like exercise. If you do it right and long enough you can actually work off a few pounds every week. I know I was super thin when I first learn to do it.
As for the squirming it probably has something to do with someone is either doing something extremely pleasurable or you are with someone who is missing the mark. LOL

@Pandora For me the heave breathing starts the minute I start making out. Kissing with almost no motion beyond lips and tongue, but wow does the motor rev up. I can’t explain it. I’m every bit as mystified as @cutiepi92.

It’s not just women…

@livelaughlove21 no I know, but I guess I asked about women specifically because in general we (or at least I) tend to make more noise.

My boyfriend breathes hard too, but I feel like I do easier and later on it comes with even more noise (moaning and stuffs). Guys aren’t really known for being “loud” during this kind of stuff. Just wondering why.

@Pandora even if it’s not the sex part?? And the squirming definitely happens when it’s pleasurable lol. It’s just a little annoying that the moment he even touches something sensitive, all that back arching and squirming around starts ^deadpan face^ kinda wish I didn’t tho….I feel like I look stupid

@Coloma LMAO I showed that to the boyfriend and we both fell out laughing lol

@cutiepi92 Maybe you’re just more sensitive than some other women. My husband is louder than I am – which I actually like, as it gets me going to hear his moans and groans. I can’t stand it when the only sound a guy makes is a grunt at the end. But I’m hard to please, I think. My libido isn’t nearly as high as his, so it takes a lot longer to get me in the mood.

Don’t be embarrassed. I’m sure your panting and squirming only turns him on more.

Interesting question. I looked for the explanation of why (which might seem to be commoon sense until you really think about it). Here is an interesting hypothesis. Hmmm, basically it says hyperventiation reduces blood flow to the brain and cortical activity. If we enjoy sex we will do it more and this keeps us thinking that “sex is a good idea”!

Sorry for responding late (was in Disney lol) but thanks for your answers!

@Earthgirl I read the article, it totally makes sense in a scientific way lol
